Our Doctors’ Mess operates across the UK, because we are truly confidential, we make people feel they belong and we create networks of support for doctors outside their own areas/organisations. Furthermore, it has harnessed the immense skills and experience of our retired doctor- educators and coaches who have given their time and energy voluntarily and now to teach/ mentor those new to facilitation. Using the coaching approach means that people are empowered to find their own solutions. Giving advice to doctors has never been productive!
Our groups can be replicated more widely. We had always planned for it to be a model to grow and to contribute to system wide improvements in workplace cultures and environments across the NHS. This needs to be done now.
Our team consists of our volunteer facilitators, a supervisor, logo designer and administrators. The facilitators are doctor/educator/mentors from across the NHS. Our Zoom experts and administrators are psychologists.
We have two non medical interns that are multi talented and keep us grounded.
